About the Service
A FINANCIAL COUNSELLOR is a trained professional who will provide information and assistance to people in a financial crisis. They will also assist people to access other services and agencies, if required.
This service is free and confidential. It is available to individuals, families and community groups in the City of Banyule and the Shire of Nillumbik.
Interpreters can be arranged if required.
Issues covered include:
- Income
- Credit, personal loans, housing mortgages
- Utilities (budget payments, preventing disconnection's)
- Outstanding bills (credit cards, loans)
- Debt recovery such as unpaid fines
- Small business matters
- Insurance and superannuation
- Contract obligations such as guarantees and joint loans
- Bankruptcy
This Service is offered by Berry Street by appointment only, but arrangements for appointments to be held at the DVCS office can be arranged.
